“Welcome to The Best Address in Bilbao, welcome to The Artist”

Staying at The Artist – Grand Hotel of Art is entering the home of the artist. In a place that pays homage, more than to its works, to its awake, restless, and nonconformist spirit.

The Artist – Grand Hotel of Art appeals to the sensibility of its guests; to feel creativity, passion for details, curiosity for flavours, and the desire to live new experiences.

Localización

“Location, location, location” The Artist – Grand Hotel of Art couldn’t be in any other place.

In the heart of Bilbao’s artistic district, facing the Guggenheim Museum and just 500 meters from the Museum of Fine Arts, The Artist – Grand Hotel of Art stands as another protagonist of the city’s cultural and artistic life. Both for its guests and its inhabitants.

Its location makes us one of the best options to explore the city. The historic center, the Hanging Bridge “Puente Colgante”, the Ribera Market, the Azkuna Center…

The distance to Bilbao Airport via the “Salve” Bridge, as well as the access to the highway, quick and agile, offer unique possibilities to explore the Basque Coast; enjoy hiking, nature, culture, surfing, gastronomy, wineries, and vineyards.

Our history

Opened in 2002, under the name Gran Hotel Domine, it is Spain’s first entirely author-designed hotel. The architecture studio IA+B along with the artist Javier Mariscal and Fernando Salas carried out the project.

A project that today continues to strengthen ties with contemporary art with new works such as “A Million Times 120“. A kinetic installation custom-made for the lobby by the Swedish studio Humans Since 1982. It continues through its hallways with its characteristic panels that combine different woods, making each door a unique element. Or with the iconic Cross Check chair edited by Knoll in the Wellness area with a nod to its creator, the architect of the Guggenheim, Frank Gehry.

A concept of a global hotel where all details respond to the same philosophy. That of a work of art in design that makes the hotel a unique place to stay; an artistic-cultural microcosm for those who want to savor a coffee, enjoy a cocktail or indulge in a good wine, dine in its restaurant, or contemplate Bilbao’s skyline from The Rooftop.
